Or would it reap far more profit and a better investment to buy a greater, multi-million hotel (or build one) and manage it from there?

Open Question: Formula to calculate future value of periodic investment?
|
If you make a monthly investment of the X, and you know your monthly rate of return R, what's the formula to calculate the future value in n months?
I didn't quite ask this clearly. Let me re-explain.
I am adding the complexity that every month a recurring amount is being added.
Interest rate is negative, losing money, 1% per month
Month 0, deposit $100 = MO
Month 1, 100 + 0.99 x MO = M1
Month 2, 100 + 0.99 x M1 = M2
Month 3, 100 + 0.99 x M2 = M3

Open Question: Why did Republicans in Congress cause the financial crisis?
|
Republicans in Congress should admit that the unwillingness of the Republicans in Congress to act on subprime mortgage lenders like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, caused the problems we're facing now.
Barney Frank and the Democrats kept asking for market regulation to curb the risk-taking lendings of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Barney Frank said in July about Fannie Mae "It's NOT a good investment!!!!!" "It's not a good investment!!!!"
And Barney Frank wanted to regulate the market and hold Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac accountable to shore up the economy and protect the American people from receiving mortgages they'd later now be able to pay up on.
Why do people blame Barney Frank???/ He said "ITS NOT A GOOD INVESTMENT!"
Nancy Pelosi really gave it to House Republicans and then the Republicans, to show they don't care, voted against the 700 Billion Bailout.
I was sort of joking in this posting, but "tim" nailed it VERY well.
tim22760, good answer

Open Question: Where are the Obama supporter investing their money?
|
A bunch of people said they trust Obama with our economy. Personally I think BO will destroy our economy, just the news of his presidency has caused the NASDAQ to crash. So where are all you Obama supporter investing your money, I mean you are willing to put you money where your mouth is, right?
That and I am extremely worried about everybody 401K and retirement funds. What do you BO lovers think is a good investment since your savior is about to have things his way? I am looking to invest something small, $40K to $50K for 4 to 6 yrs. I have plenty of bonds and have made out good over the past 6 yrs. I am 26 so high yield/risk is fine. What are you doing with your investments?
See while going to college I began selling mortgage loans and insurance after selling my Auto Detailing Company. Took the money I saved and funded the start of a small oil and gas company with some guys I met at an investors convention. With the income from three jobs and two rental properies I do alright. Sounds like only an Obama supporter can't understand that anyone who wants to can make a good living in a few years of 90 hours weeks. Guess I can't get an answer out of people who think they know everything.
Sorry guys, obama wants to tax your 401K money
All I ask is where are BO supporters investing their money, hes great right? why can't anyone give a real answer

Open Question: HyperInflation Hedges!!?
|
If, like many (not all but many) economists are suggesting, coming is the ultimate failure of the dollar and rampant inflation. Would Real Estate not (even presently) be a great long term investment with fixed rate debt?
Would it not then be wise to buy and borrow as much as possible now cause when its all over you will have paid your debt off with worthless paper bills and you will be the proud owner of mortgage free land and property. Land and property has to retain a relative value to wages\materials & other neccessaties.
Wise was probably the wrong choice of word... 'Shrewd' perhaps?

Open Question: Put Options? Read example first then read my question?
|
Example: You buy 2 Put options of ABC with a strike price of $50 for a premium of $.75. Your investment is $150. You now control 200 shares of ABC.
As time passes the stock price drops to $43. You now exercise your option to sell. So in one transaction, you buy 200 shares for $8,600 (200 * $43) and use your option to sell those same shares for $10,000 (200 * $50)
My only question is who will buy the stock at 50 dollars wen they can buy it for 43 some help?

Open Question: Making money in Real Estate... need financial advice?
|
Hey everyone,
I'm 20 and just started this last spring as a real estate broker in the Denver Metro area for Re/Max and believe it or not I'm making a killing (6-figures... keep in mind I can't even drink yet) and would like to know if anyone has an INTELLIGENT ways I could invest some of my new found fortune. After today's newest drop in the stock market and oil prices I feel that for a safe bet investment there is always gold or silver but the buy low sell high motto is scratching at me saying that oil will soon hit the floor so get into that. Also, I was thinking of investing in Activision-Blizzard or Electronic Arts seeing how its Christmas time and they could see good sales because video games are the only things on kid's minds these days.

Open Question: Please help with FV Finance problem.?
|
Could someone please help me out with what formulas I should use to solve this problem. I have attempted solving with future value of an annuity but my results are in the trillions which I know can't be right. I'm sure I'm missing something basic here and would really appreciate any help anyone has to offer. Thanks
You are going to place $100 per month in an account for 450 months earning 6% interest, compounded monthly. After that time, you will leave the accumulated cash in the account for another 60 months. Starting 1 month after that time (after month 60, or after month 510 if you prefer to call it that) you will begin to withdraw an amount of cash per month for the next 30 years. Assuming that you will exactly exhaust your investment with your final withdrawal, what amount will you be able to withdraw per month? Assume that any amount in the account will earn 6% interest, compounded monthly.

Open Question: When our economy ultimately goes bust, will you be happy just to work in one of Obama's forced labor gulags?
|
Taken from an Obama speech:
Today, AmeriCorps - our nation's network of local, state and national service programs - has 75,000 slots. I know firsthand the quality of these programs. My wife Michelle once left her job at a law firm to be the founding director of an AmeriCorps program in Chicago that trains young people for careers in public service. These programs invest Americans in their communities and their country. They tap America's greatest resource - our citizens.
As President, I will expand AmeriCorps to 250,000 slots, and make that increased service a vehicle to meet national goals like providing health care and education, saving our planet and restoring our standing in the world, so that citizens see their efforts connected to a common purpose. People of all ages, stations, and skills will be asked to serve. Because when it comes to the challenges we face, the American people are not the problem - they are the answer.
We'll send more college graduates to teach and mentor our young people. We'll call on Americans to join an Energy Corps to conduct renewable energy and environmental cleanup projects in their neighborhoods. We'll enlist veterans to help other vets find jobs and support, and to be there for our military families. And we'll also grow our Foreign Service, open consulates that have been shuttered, and double the size of the Peace Corps by 2011 to renew our diplomacy.
And we'll use technology to connect people to service. We'll expand USA Freedom Corps to create an online network where Americans can browse opportunities to volunteer. You'll be able to search by category, time commitment, and skill sets; you'll be able to rate service opportunities, build service networks, and create your own service pages to track your hours and activities. This will empower more Americans to craft their own service agenda, and make their own change from the bottom up.
We also need to invest in ideas that can help us meet our common challenges, because more often than not, the next great social innovation won't be generated by the government.
The non-profit sector employs 1 in 12 Americans and 115 nonprofits are launched every day. Yet while the federal government invests $7 billion in research and development for the private sector, there is no similar effort to support non-profit innovation. Meanwhile, there are ideas across America - in our inner cities and small towns; from college graduates, to seniors getting ready to retire - that could benefit millions of Americans if they're given the chance to grow.
As President, I will launch a new Social Investment Fund Network. It's time to get the grass roots, the foundations, the faith-based organizations, the private sector and the government at the table so that we can learn from our own success stories. We'll invest in ideas that work; leverage private sector dollars to encourage innovation; and expand successful programs to scale. Take a program like the Harlem Children's Zone, which helps thousands of kids in New York through after-school activities, mentoring, and family support. We need to make that model work in different cities across America. And just as we support small businesses, I'll start a new Social Entrepreneur Agency to make sure that small non-profits have strong support from Washington.

Open Question: Is there a way to verify income on some of these blogs that use Google Ads?
|
There are a number of blogs I visit on a regular basis. I have recently read of a couple that have implied they are doing fairly well financially as a result of their readership using only Google Ads.
This seems to be a pretty fun and smart way to make some extra money if one is a good writer; however, how can one independently verify that there really is money to be made using Google Ads?
I would not be pleased to go to the effort of sustaining a blog with the intention to attract readership only to find out that I was making pennies for having thousands of readers - as from a financial standpoint that would not be a good investment of time.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Open Question: What stocks will be a wise investment to hold long term?
|
I am sick and tired of seeing my stock portfolio sometimes decreasing a few thousand dollars in one day. I am always looking for new stock investments. Which large corporate stocks are still available that have always made a profit and still have profit growth, have a low PE ratio, pay a dividend that will not be cut, have little or no debt on their balance sheet, and will be safe in this bad economy that we are facing. Provide the ticker symbols of these stocks and the reasons why the stock of these companies should be purchased.

Open Question: Have you had problems with "WIN Investing" refusing to refund the course fee if you don't make a profit?
|
I wish to warn others of my bad experience with WINinvesting, who hold investment seminars in the UK costing £1,970.
The problems with WINinvesting are two-fold. Firstly, WINinvesting actively encourage course participants to invest with misplaced confidence (backed up by a course fee refund guarantee), but do not actually provide adequate training for them to invest successfully, particularly in a volatile market - the most likely result is that they will lose money. Secondly, they will not honour their guarantee to refund the course fee – a WINinvesting customer service representative in fact admitted to me that he did not know of any occasion when course fees had been refunded despite the many claims being made.
If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Open Question: Should I buy a Professional Camcorder selling cheap on E-bay?
|
I recently found that a Panasonic AG DVC7 is selling on e-bay for the shockingly low price of 150.00.
http://cgi.ebay.com/camcorder-Panasonic-AG-DVC7-with-a-stereo-microphone_W0QQitemZ220312042840QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCamcorders_Professional_Video_Cameras?hash=item220312042840&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
I'm extremely tempted to buy it, but at the same time extremely concerned that it's broken or the person is only selling for parts and not telling me. I've contacted them and I'm waiting for their responds. In the mean time, I'd like the advice of some E-bay experts and technology gods. Is there anything hidden here that I should know? I mean, I have the money and this is the perfect investment (student in the film business) so buying a camera that normally sells for 1 grand at this price - it's a dream come true!
But is it real? Please tell me if there's anything I need to know!
